Introduction
The second industrial revolution began after the Civil War. Machines took over hand labor, a nationwide network of railroads distributed goods, and investors developed new products during this time. The industrial growth changed American life. The growth was strongly centered on the North. These drastic changes to American life made reforms to many areas in life.
